The link between good nutrition and healthy glowing skin cannot be underestimated. Topping up a balanced diet with the following skin friendly foods can work wonders:
Bananas:
High in skin enriching properties like potassium, vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, zinc, folic acid, pectin, snacking on a banana will really do your skin a favour, and it’s slow energy release will keep you going and stop you from reaching for less healthy snack foods.
Kiwi Fruit:
These tasty fruit contain twice the vitamin C of an orange, as well fibre, vitamin E and potassium. Pop a couple in your lunchbox for a skin boosting snack.
Blueberries:
Great for snacking and an all round source of vitamins and minerals. With their antiseptic and blood cleansing properties, blueberries are a great skin food and can help with other problems such as anaemia and bowel problems.
Top Tip: Eat fruit on an empty stomach i.e. at the start of a meal. This ensures that fruit is digested properly and avoids it fermenting on top of a full stomach (which can cause bloating and discomfort).
Rich in vitamins A, B, C, E and potassium, avocados are also easy to digest and contain monounsaturated oils that help reduce cholesterol. Chop one up into your next salad to give your skin an invaluable boost.
Opt for a plain yoghurt with “live” or “bio” on the label. Yoghurt provides you with calcium, protein, magnesium and vitamin A and is a cheap and easy way of boosting your daily diet.
Not just a great food flavouring, garlic has natural antiseptic and antifungal properties. If you are not a fan of the taste then opt for a daily garlic tablet or capsule to supplement your diet.
Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water during the day . Try adding a slice of lemon to a cup of boiled water as part of your morning routine to detox and cleanse your system.
Oily fish like mackerel, salmon and sardines are especially good for your skin. Try to incorporate into two mealtimes every week to feel and see the benefits.
Finally, become your own nutritionist and get to know the food that triggers your spot breakouts and dull skin. You may wish to keep a food diary to help identify your negative reactions to food – common culprits are alcohol, caffeine, as well as food that is high in chemicals, additives and sugar.
As well as nourishing your skin from the inside, it’s just as important to care for your skin from the outside with well chosen skin care products. Visit www.claude-celeste.com to choose from a range of quality products that will complement your new skin-diet regime.
Your hands are one the most exposed part of your body regularly exposed to wind, cold, household chemicals and other harsh elements.
So what can we do to keep our hands soft and healthy?
Every night before going to bed moisturise your hands with a small amount of rose oil or hand cream, massage slowly and gently, this will moisturise your skin all night and will stimulate your blood flow and relax you.
Argan oil can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, strengthen elasticity, protect against stretch marks, and improve your skin’s overall health and vitality. Recognised as a fundamental element in cosmetic care, argan oil is now being used in several beauty products.
Researchers who have completed extensive studies identify the benefits of argan oil and strongly recommend its cosmetic use. Argan oil is a rich, nourishing and moisturizing skin food containing no artificial colouring, perfumes or preservatives to irritate the skin.
Argans’ anti-ageing properties, due to high levels of Vitamin E and saponins (which soften the skin) are well documented. It helps to reduce wrinkles by restoring the skin’s water lipid layer and it also cools and soothes inflammation. Its anti-oxidant properties contribute to the neutralization of free radicals, particularly useful in the polluted Western hemisphere. It helps cool skin that has been exposed to wind and the sun and also protects it in cold weather.
Traditionally used in Morocco to soothe dry eczema, chicken pox scars, acne and psoriasis, it can also help to reduce scarring and prevent stretch marks. Argan oil does not clog the pores as it is thoroughly absorbed and assimilated into the skin. Diet can play an important part in eczema breakout. Lactose and whey are best avoided, they are present in lots of food e.g. dairy products such as milk, cheese, yoghurt. If possible substitute with soya or goat’s milk products. Please remember to consult your doctor or a diet specialist before changing your diet; also introduce any changes gradually so you don’t upset your digestive system.
A good, healthy breakfast is required in the morning. Many of us skip breakfast as we think that it is not important to have breakfast. As you have not eaten from 8 – 10 hours your body really needs food to give energy and prevent mid-morning snacking. To kick start your metabolism drink a glass of water (not iced) first thing in the morning.
Eat something which gives you energy. Avoid eating heavy food, instead eat fresh fruit, yoghurt or cereal (e.g. whole grain cereals that are low in sugar, oatmeal, try to stay away from sugary cereals). Researchers have repeatedly shown that people who eat breakfast have a better chance of losing weight, and keeping it off.
Sleep is a very important process when it comes to our continuing health. It is a natural restorative cycle that allows the body to rest and properly regenerate itself, so that it can continue to function appropriately.
There are a great number of physical benefits associated with proper sleep.

Wake up early:
